Sculpture as a medium for VeeJaying

Light travels trough space and is intersected by physical material where after it is reflected, absorbed transformed or intensified.

As a VJ I’m not only in dialogue with the music and the audience but also with the space. My material to work with is projected video content, where the video content exists on the surface: the function of the surface is to carry information. With \\VECTOR I try to turn this around by working from the inside out, from the sculpture, outwards

Licht beweegt door de ruimte en doorkruist fysiek materiaal waarna het wordt gereflecteerd, geabsorbeerd, getransformeerd of versterkt.

Als VJ ben ik niet alleen in dialoog met de muziek en het publiek maar ook met de ruimte. Mijn materiaal is video, of geprojecteerd beeld, het is een een-richtings vorm waarbij de video-content bestaat op een oppervlak: Het oppervlak fungeert in deze vorm enkel als informatiedrager. Ik poog dit te doorbreken door de andere kant op te werken, met \\VECTOR projecteer ik niet op de ruimte maar vanuit een object de ruimte in.

In 2014 maakte ik “The Lightbulb” vanuit de gedachte dat een ruimte wordt gevormd door licht. Het kwam voort uit een Artistc Reseacrh periode waarin ik onderzoek deed naar het materiaal van live visual-perfromers.
