Figures of Motion S.A.C. TEFAF
I have a passion for translating music into visual experiences which I explore through the creation of light installations and immersive spaces where not the work itself but what is radiated becomes the work. As it transforms the space.
My artistic research focuses on the possibilities of translating music into spatial objects and map structures image onto sound. Music and vision have similar concepts to work with such as rhythm, tone, repetition, color, hard, soft, large, full, sharp or fragile. As live visual performer I approache my set (my visuals and devices) as a musician approaches his instrument.
In my sculptural work, I explore the boundaries of sculpture through light, and herein seek the possibilities of sculpture as a performative medium.
Various artists have been and are experimenting with mapping one domain on the other by their internal structures. For example Artists Len Lye saw film and kinetic sculpture as aspects of the same “art of motion”and created Figures of Motion. Kandiski referred to his paintings as compositions where color and shapes resonate like musical compositions.
